Murkwood

Crystal Bog

Behind the town, hidden amongst the foliage, is the crystal bog. The water is filled with thick, turbid water bubbles that rise gently in the deep, dark waters, which are only darkened further by the canopy above. The surface of the dark, murky water is only broken by the rare grey egg-like crystals that float on the surface. Beneath the water’s surface, deep down in the depths of the swamp, the crystals develop in carefully controlled conditions. The bog has an inexplicable magic to it that creates a perfect environment for the crystals; any fully grown crystals that are ready to be collected break free from the rocks at the bottom of the swamp and float to the surface. Due to the crystals being suspended in the middle of the water, any kitters or animals that try to nab one of the crystals will find it nearly impossible to touch the juvenile crystals unprepared. In order to harvest these crystals for the town, Boggart will slither across the surface of the bog all day to search for the crystals that are floating on the water, taking the few that he finds and scooping them away back to town. He works diligently, as crystals left too long will sink back into the putrid water, never to be seen again.

Witchdoctor's Hut

On the outskirts of town, hanging  alone amid a sea of herbs is the humble abode of the Murkwood Witchdoctor, Oxford. The hut is impossible to miss, due to the bright tribal markins adorning its outside walls. Some even claim that these designs shift from time to time! Unlike most of the other houses in Murkwood, the hut is made of wood and has many rooms. The interior of the house is equally as energetic and colorful as the outside. The walls are decorated with paintings and knickknacks, which Oxford constantly shifts around when he can't decide what should go where. The hut is eternally halfway between tidy and messy as Titus cleans up the messes Oxford always makes. The kitchen is a stark contrast to the rest of the house. It's the only room that is clean and organized, and Titus won't let Oxford or his experiments anywhere near it.

Herb Farms

Sprouting from the water below or hanging from the trees above the Witchdoctor's Hut, you can find Titus’s herb farms. Nearly every type of herb grows here, each carefully maintained and organized with the utmost care. Some grow in the marsh itself - these tend to be the more native herbs, whereas the more exotic herbs grow on platforms high above the water, others kept in greenhouses. Some are even grown on specially built platforms above the trees. Titus works diligently, making sure their conditions are just right so they can flourish. All the platforms are connected at a single point by ropes, which Titus uses to get around. They all connect to the roof of the workshed, which is used to store fertilizer or prepare herbs to be used in medicine. They often meet patients here as well so its always kept perfectly clean and orderly. The Witchdoctor's Hut lies in the center of the herb farms.

Googator Corral

Standing alone on the ground is the Googator Corral, taking up a small hill sticking out of the boggy waters of Murkwood.  A large stable lies in the center of the hill, and next to it sits a tiny house. This house belongs to Giggle, and his little brother Grin. The corral is surrounded by a fence, which is as tall as a gator's knees. The fence raps around the entire hill, even going into the water a little bit, giving the gators plenty of room to roam. The corrall is one of the most beautiful places in Murkwood, from the colorful gators waddling across the hill to its lush fields of flowers. Many of the residents worry about the googators escaping, due to the low wall. However, they have nothing to worry about - due to the gators' simple nature, when they reach the fence, they believe they are trapped and turn around. If a gator were ever to escape, it would surely return at Giggle's call.

Archery Range

The Archery Range is a cultural cornerstone of Murkwood. The range itself is on a large platform at the front of town. Next to it is an equipment shed, and on its other side is a number of small wooden boxes. Each can be raised and lowered to help archers shoot targets on various levels of the main tree. The higher the boxes are raised, the more difficult it is to hit the targets.

Competitions are held regularly at the range. Such activities used to be a rite of passage, but have become more of a sport now. The range is owned and maintained by the residents of Murkwood, and they take great pride in it. It is common to see meeps learning the art of archery from their parents at the range, or from Bachee when ever she's on the grounds. The range becomes off-limits once a week, however, as Willow brings the kids in her care there to practice their archery and learn how to take care of the grounds.

Willow's House

In the heart of the Town stands a massive, strong tree. At first glance, it seems to merely be the anchor for the town's main deck, but the more observant viewer will notice that there's more to the tree. Hollowed out from the top to bottom, the tree is the largest house in Murkwood and serves as a home to all of the lost, forgotten, abandoned, or orphaned meeps in the area. Wanting only the best for the meeps, Willow set up her home like a hotel. Each room was of higher quality than most Muddies’ houses, with everything a meep could ever want. In the center of the house is a massive dining room with a single large table in the center, where everyone sits together for every meal. There is also a large playroom, where most of the meeps spend their days. Willow's library is located near the top of the tree and contains every manner of books. At night, every Meep lights a tiny candle and places it at their window. The lights can be seen twinkling across the town, giving a peaceful air of security.
