The Forbidden Elements

Poison

Toxic, scalding, acidic.

They destroy all they touch.

Septic, biting, sardonic,

Their words wound much.

Noxious and cruel, the element of poison is considered the most ruthless of all of the elements. Kitters born with an affinity for this element have a reputation for being uncaring and insulting. They can learn to strengthen the toxins in a poison, and create toxins designed to be incurable, and nullify the effects of poisons.

To demonstrate that the element of poison can be used for good, many of these Kitters have devoted themselves to learning how to create toxins that target not the body, but other toxins. These unique poisons can destroy other poisons, therefore acting as a cure. Other poison affinity Kitters have been developing non-lethal toxins that temporarily paralyze a Kitter for law enforcement use.

Sin

Beware the tempter’s words of honey,

He comes to deceive, leading you astray.

Beware the enticer’s sweet melody,

She seeks to mislead, leaving you in dismay.

Captivating and persuasive, the element of sin can convince you of nearly anything if you allow it to. Kitters born with an affinity for this element have a reputation for being expert cons and liars. They ooze with charm and charisma. Their hypnotizing voices possess the power to sway the mind, leading others to do things they would normally never do.

To show that their voices can be used for more than just lies and cons, many sin affinity Kitters hold motivational speeches and therapy sessions. Their ability to convince others of nearly anything is extremely useful for helping others break habits and have their confidence boosted.

Ectoplasm

Spirits wail, ghosts awaken,

Shall the dead not rest in peace?

Pierce the veil, it’s begun,

Now the darkness shall never cease.

Strange and unexplainable, the element of ectoplasm is the most mysterious of all of the elements. Kitters born with an affinity for ectoplasm have a reputation for being in contact with the dark powers of the supernatural realm. Many of these Kitters are attempting to prove that contact with the supernatural realm can be used for good. They can learn to commune with spirits, possess other Kitters, and draw power from the spiritual realm.

Some Kitters who possess an affinity for this element become friends with a spirit whom they share a connection with. Sometimes this spirit is an ancestor while other times, it may be a loved one (friend, brother, mother, ect.) that died in the past. Occasionally, it may even be a pet that died. These Kitters are often shunned by others because to everyone else, they appear to be talking to nothing but air.

Kitters who possess an affinity for ectoplasm often find themselves uncomfortable around those with an affinity for balance. This is due to the fact that the element of ectoplasm defies the natural order of science by drawing power from the spiritual realm. The element of balance hates disorder and chaos, resulting in ectoplasm Kitters feeling anxious and worried when an balance Kitter uses their powers to restore peace and order. This can make it quite difficult for Kitters of these two elements to become friends. However, it isn’t impossible.

Plague

They cry, they cry, hoping someone will save them.

The first have begun to wheeze.

Goodbye, goodbye, all falls into mayhem.

None can stand against disease.

Virulent and deadly, the element of plague is the most hated of all the forbidden elements. Kitters who possess an affinity for this element hold a reputation for feeding off chaos and sickness. They can learn to create terrible illnesses that leave even the mightiest of Kitters helpless.

These Kitters fear their own element, however, for they are not immune to their own diseases. Should they infect a town, they will eventually contract the sickness themself. Additionally, many plague affinity Kitters often feel guilty for making others sick. As a result, curing disease is one of the first skills that these Kitters try to master despite it being very difficult for them to learn.
