Bestow Strength
Heat Resistance
Learning: Just like metal, Kitters can learn to have a high heat tolerance. In order to do this, they must expose themself to something of extraordinary heat. Often times the assistance of a fire affinity kitter is useful for such instances. It is suggested to not directly jumping into touching the hot object but simply getting close to it, and imagining their body deflecting the heat as metal does. Over practice kitters may get closer until they directly touch the object, and further practice can be applied with higher heats.
Usage: This ability is commonly used with blacksmiths and merchants who venture through Charfire Desert. Or simply when days are too hot, the magic may be applied across the whole body when practiced correctly.
Limitations: This ability may be hard to get to the point of applying to the whole body and very difficult to apply during sleep, but other than this the ability is relatively limit free. Some kitters even claim that this ability improves their resistance to heat when not in use though some mages have claimed this to be a lie.
Ferrokinesis
Learning: Students often speak with water affinity kitters to understand the movement of ones affinity. Metal is not free flowing and easy to manipulate but not as difficult to tame as fire, which is well known as being troublesome. The focus of altering metal is simple, focusing within the mind on the metal. Imagine that as the kitter moves the metal moves with it, the results may be blocky and not smooth at first but metal is willing to be altered, and can always be reset to its original state. Beginners will often find it easier to practice with small metals.
Usage: Blacksmiths often use this ability to gain precision in their crafts, and construction workers to create sturdy structures, even some artists enjoy the usage of metal. On a small to medium scale metal is relatively easy to mold.
Limitations: Very taxing on beginners, and hard to master. Metal will often bend and move in jagged actions, sometimes creating sharp edges and difficulty in its efficiency. To alter metal on a large scale can be dangerous, as the magic potential within the metal if not treated with proper respect can cause the metal to split into many (oftentimes sharp) pieces which go flying in all directions.
Sense Base Metals
Learning: Kitters who look to learn how to sense basic metals in any metallic material usually go through one of two routes; theoretical and practical learning, much like Bloom kitters who are starting to learn how to identify plants. Those who would rather go the theoretical route study and differentiate metals by learning of the qualities they’re associated with such as color and molecular composition. They may or may not take that knowledge and reinforce it with on-hand practice, drawing the knowledge they’ve accumulated and making connections with actual metallic samples. Practical learners feel through each metal they come across, learning of these differentiations with their metal magic. Once they’ve grasped that knowledge, sensing basic metals in a metallic substance is only a matter of recognizing the material with your magic and differentiating it between other worldly materials.
Usage: Metal-affinity Kitters who know this ability can be helpful in mining expeditions, since their magic will help them determine the location of desirable metals and ore. This ability can also be used to find & locate civilizations by sensing masses of metal.
Limitations: Kitters may only be able to sense metals that are 30 feet away or less. Additionally, only base metals (i.e. tin, zinc, copper, etc) can be detected.
Learning: Bestowing strength on another kitter is easier than summoning strength on oneself, as it requires concentration on flowing energy from one source to another. Individuals learning this ability must be near the kitter they wish to give temporary strength to, taking a broad stance and feeling the ground beneath their feet. They must imagine the power of metal flowing from the earth, rising up through their feet and into their forelegs, this power must be focused, leaving the ends of the limb and channeling into the other kitter, which results in that kitter feeling a sensation similar to a rush of adrenaline without the racing heart, a strength that gives the individual a temporary boost in power.
Usage: Practical uses range from any job requiring manual labour to self defense. Often times two metal affinity kitters get two friends to wrestle with their bestowed strength, going all out in un official matches that are used to compare metal kitter’s strength in their respective magic.
Limitations: Very taxing, even strong magic users get very hot and exhausted when this power is used to long or too aggressively. Can be harmful to both the metal affinity kitter and the kitter they are bestowing strength onto. When too much energy is sent into the other kitter they often get overwhelmed, and some have even fallen into short comas.
