Manipulate Ink
Learning: Ink manipulation is perhaps even easier than the manipulation of water. Being either secreted directly from the kitter or easily acquired from any typical merchant who sells ink. The kitter who wishes to alter ink must simply attune their mind to the potential kinetic energy within the ink, and will it to move. This ability may end up with a few messes so it is best practiced outdoors. This ability is incredibly easy to learn and practice into mastering.
Usage: Artists, writers, scientists-Any kitter who ever needs to write something down or create something beautiful may use this ability. It is practical while holding potential to be entertaining.
Limitations: Can be difficult to apply to large bodies of ink, and gets taxing after usage over more than a couple minutes if not trained properly. Exhaustion of this ability may cause kitter’s to feel dehydrated and fatigued.
Read Object
Learning: An ink Kitter can learn the age and the names of previous owners for an object. By emptying their mind and listening carefully they can hear the object. It can be difficult for a kitter to tell the difference between their own imagination and what the object is telling them. It takes a lot of practice to get it right and it often helps to have someone who knows the history of the object with you while learning. Touching the object can also be useful.
Usage: This ability is great for finding the owner of a lost item. Archaeologists often use this to learn about new discoveries, and law enforcement can also make good use of it to find out who interacted with illegal or stolen objects. Most kitters just this just out of curiosity or to figure out how long ago their food was made, or who touched it if some went missing.
Limitations: The knowledge gained from this is rather limited. Although you can learn who owned it you can't learn how long ago they did, or where the object has been. Although it would be nice to learn the object's full history, it's simply not possible.
Create Picture
Learning: Previous applications of ink manipulation must be applied in a much more focused manner. Instead of imagining large bodies of ink moving as individuals imagine the small droplets, each drop of ink of every color that creates the scenery. Imagine how these colors combine to create altered versions of themselves. Imagine these colors coming together to create something familiar, teachers often times suggest a favorite food or kitter which can be pictured easily and clear. Imagine this image coming together on a 2D plane-paper. (External source of ink will be needed as kitters can only produce black ink until later training of magic)
Usage: Mostly entertainment, though some kitters will pay ink affinity kitters to create images of them to keep in their home, or other forms of decoration. This ability is also useful when trying to identify a criminal from descriptions given by victims, as kitter’s may create ‘pictures’ of description statements.
Limitations: Realism or anything near that is often difficult, and some mages cannot even create picture perfect images. Without a wide range of ink to use kitters may not be able to create very believable images either, and ink can be expensive and is difficult to produce in other colors. Many have gotten good at ‘black and white’ picture creation as well.
Learning: To move ink around on paper is rather easy, to make it look like handwriting is difficult, to make it look like it was done by the same person is exceedingly difficult. A kitter needs to attune themselves with the ink on the paper and then focus on what letters they want to create. It takes a lot of training to be able to use this ability fluidly.
Usage: Neatly fix that spelling mistake without having to rewrite the whole page, or just simply clean up the handwriting. Put a secret message in common book or remove one so no one else can read it.
Limitations: It requires a lot of focus and energy to make the ink move so precisely, and it's easy to mess up and cause the letters to smudge. It can leave a kitter tired very quickly if they aren't properly trained. Only a few words can be altered at a time due to the amount of concentration needed.
