Alter Body Temperature
Learning: Altering the body temperature is a magic ability requires focus on the user instead of the environment. A kitter must focus their magic on their core, and imagine the natural forces of ice taking effect. This ability is often times easy to begin die to it being a simple connection to the kitters natural affinity, but can be hard to master and control with precision.
Usage: In hot weather this ability is particularly useful to keep a kitters body temperature low and healthy, and oftentimes ice kitters find traveling through charfire dessert to be a simplistic task with this low energy ability.
Limitations: Can only lower the users body temperature, can be chilled too far which can accidentally give the user hypothermia. Meeps oftentimes have a difficult time with this ability as the feeling of lowering your body temperature without external forces can feel unnatural, and sometimes is even known to cause queasiness.
Chilly Wind
Learning: All about focus, the summoning of chilly winds requires absolute concentration. The moment concentration is lost, the kitter loses the ability to manipulate the cold winds as desired. It is recommended to practice this ability away from civilization as it can cause damage to both kitters and buildings if used incorrectly. When summoning chilly winds it is better to focus on creating and shifting coldness in the air rather than altering the air as an independent force as air affinity kitters would. A kitter must ‘push’ the magic from within themselves into the air, cooling it and pushing it in one direction or another. At first only small gusts can be summoned but with practice and higher levels of training a kitter may master this ability to even summon snowstorm like abilities, though low level ice-affinities will not be able to acquire this skill.
Usage: Cooling down other kitters or animals when they overheat, oftentimes used with traveling merchants. Also commonly used by street salesmen who deal crops, meats and fruits so they do not spoil in the sunlight.
Limitations: Becomes more difficult to control the more vicious the winds summoned, but easy to manipulate when small and focused. In small bursts the user will feel almost no taxation, but in situations where the cold winds gets out of control, the user's magic will continue to be drained - even if direct control is not maintained. This may cause extreme level of pain, particularly in the head.
Shape Snow
Learning: Shaping snow is an easy ability to learn the basics of. Kitters and meeps may learn this ability by shaping snow physically, but feeling the shifting of the snow with their magic senses as well as their body. When they wish to alter the snow without touch they must pull at the same feeling, and slowly push at the snow into new shapes and forms. Easy to learn the basics, difficult to master more complex snow movements and alterations.
Usage: Clearing paths in snow both in town and in the wilderness is often times difficult manual labour, a task made much easier with the shape snow ability, which is also used for art and play by meeps and kitters. Many ice affinity kitters hold ‘snowmen’ contests using only magic to create the most stunning snow sculptures.
Limitations: Large amounts of snow are difficult to control, acting more like pieces of solid rather than liquids. Forms created with the snow shaping ability may not stay after magic influence is no longer in play, and often times crumbles. Usage of this ability too much leaves the user sleepy, but rarely fatigued.
Learning: A kitter can rapidly remove the heat form an object causing, it to freeze. The kitter lowers its temperature in its hand so much that when it touches an object, it sucks the heat out of it. The colder the touch, the quicker the object freezes.
Usage: Flash freeze food for storage, instantly make popsicles or give someone frostbite. A lot of fun can be had with this ability - however, it is also very dangerous and should be handled with care. The sudden extreme cold can be very harmful to others (as well as plant life) and can even cause some objects such as glass to shatter.
Limitations: The bigger and warmer the object, the longer it takes to freeze. As the heat is being sucked into the kitter, if an object is too hot, it could cause the kitter to overheat and go into shock. And it takes a lot of energy to maintain for long periods of time.
