Telekinesis
Learning: Difficult. Rightfully so, the act of telekinesis is a magic that stretches beyond the land of the living. Using powers granted by the unruly dead, kitters with this magic can move objects with their minds. They can only be taught this by speaking to the dead. The dead will “guide” them, tempting them with the tongues of sin and drawing them to the dark magic of their internal void. Ectoplasm kitters arrested for crimes involving telekinesis have been unable to explain the magic, simply laughing that a ‘mortal’ wished to hear the dead, which is supposedly the only source that understands this ability truly.
Usage: Attacks, murder, chaos, to gain power, to scare and hurt. Telekinesis has been used for decades as a method to assault the innocent.
Limitations: At first an ectoplasm may only create unnatural stirrings or minor movements, however as they practice this ability they will only grow stronger. Small objects turn to large ones, stones turn to boulders, dolls turn to meeps, meeps turn to kitters.
Converse With the Dead
Learning: This magic is easy to manipulate and learn due to its characteristics as an ability that occurs within the eyes of the ectoplasm without provocation. To “fully” open the eyes of an ecto to the spiritual realm, focus must be placed on the energies that the kitter is already aware of, focusing on the dead that already walk amongst them. This forbidden magic can draw out specific spirits, calling out those that the host has seen before. To find more power, to make deals with those less natural than themselves. A so called ‘spiritual realm’ also becomes visible to the ecto, however they cannot reach it due to a ‘cold barrier’ which keeps them from the realm. Higher level magic users however gain access, further information has been withheld by ectoplasm kitters throughout history despite extraction methods ranging from physical persuasion to use of a filthy sins mind invasion.
Usage: Calling out those that have passed who aligned themselves with the dark side of the magic forces. These kitters and other so called spirits are considered dangerous and evil due to their association with the ectoplasm kitters and their forbidden and dark natures.
Limitations: Within the last decade we had a troubling situation. An ectoplasm kitter who had been brought to justice for their sins returned, using their unnatural magic to fuel and warp the mind and body of a meep born to illegal parents. This meep had extreme ectoplasmic power, achieving the impossible rank of mage at the age of two weeks. They attacked locals, guided by this dead angry ectoplasm. They had broken every bone of five citizens and started on a sixth using telekinesis before we could take them down. They will find their way. To the dead, to the spiritual realm later in life. All will come eventually. We cannot stop them, even in death.
Weightlessness
Learning: Imagine a bird. Now imagine this bird with no wings. Imagine this bird not walking upon the ground with its legs but sliding through the air as if it could fly. Ectoplasm kitters follow in the atypical image of this bird, pushing their baby abilities with magic harvested through their other horrific abilities. Nightmare hopping then attempting to float will push a kitter higher and farther than ever before. Without needing to even think an ectoplasm affinity kitter can simply abandon gravity, and slide through the air as a worm does the dirt, only smoother.
Usage: This ability is used to evade the law, fight with unrealistic odds, gain access to impossible places, and most commonly creep out and frighten civilians. Many criminals have used this ability to avoid leaving a trace, as well as give no sound clues to victims. Ectoplasm kitters have attempted reaching beyond our planet but crash to the earth and die due to unknown circumstances far above what any winged kitter can reach.
Limitations: Requires magic gained from fear and chaos. Nearly limitless after harvesting begins. However does not work under water or in suspension of other liquid. Discovered when a student level water kitter trapped another student level ectoplasm kitter that attacked them with only water.
Nightmare Hopping
Learning: Learning nightmare hopping is identical to the methods used by balance kitters who dreamwalk. However this ability is used to spread fear and chaos. Unlike balance affinity kitters the ectoplasm affinity kitters walk amongst nightmares. The fear, pain, anger, and other negative emotions associated with nightmares fuel an ectoplasms strength instead of weaken them as they do balance affinity kitters. After walking the realm of nightmares an ectoplasm affinity will be fueled both physically and magically, the temporary power boost acting like adrenaline, running through the body for a few days. Nightmares cannot be directly altered by an ectoplasm meep, but the presence of a creature so unnatural will feed the chaos and fear that already exists to the dreamer.
Usage: This ability is used to spread negativity, and gain power in the waking world. Ectoplasm affinity kitters have been known to find each other and travel in groups, to further influence nightmares to be even worse. Pestering a kitter in real life and visiting their nightmares is an old trick for an ecto to truly terrify a kitter, and further feed off of them in their dreams.
Limitations: Peaceful, calm or serene dreams are the domain of the bright balance kitters. Visiting these dreams causes extreme discomfort, and even physical pain in ectoplasm nightmare hoppers.

Addendum by Hekate the Magic Shopkeeper: One of the benefits of being an ectoplasm dreamwalker is that nightmares increase your strength. While most consider this to be wrong and twisted, I think it’s extraordinarily useful. You see, balance affinity dreamwalkers can’t stay in a nightmare very long since the negative emotions are leeching off their element. Ectoplasm dreamwalkers are completely immune to this, however, since their element feeds off the fear and chaos. On the reverse side, peaceful dreams leave an ectoplasm dreamwalker feeling nervous and exhausted.
